Masterclass Tutor
Ray has been working as a silversmith since 1979, his work encompasses all areas of silversmithing from designing and creating his own contemporary silverware, working to commission and undertaking making for others within the trade. He also specialises in antique restoration and conservation projects.
Ray has extensive experience as a tutor having taught at London Metropolitan University, The Goldsmiths Centre for the past 12 years , West Dean college, and Bishopsland. He has taught many skills training courses for Contemporary British Silversmiths around the country and teaches and mentors individuals from his workshop.
Ray is a Freeman of the Goldsmiths Company, a committee member of Contemporary British Silversmiths and a fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths, his work is in the Goldsmiths Company collection and many private collections in the uk and Europe.
He is a multi award winner in the Goldsmiths Craft and Design council competition including the prestigious Jacques Cartier Award
