The Newby Trust has generously funded a full Programme Fee bursary for a Maker joining our 2025/26 programme. Makers who have attended an admission open day and completed the admissions process will be able to apply.

Bishopsland has successfully completed the first phase of its relocation to Buscot and Coleshill and a new partnership with the National Trust’s Heritage and Rural Skills Centre.

All Buscot residents are warmly invited to join us in our workshop to see the renovations we have completed so far, hear about our plans for the site, meet our staff and silversmiths, and find out more about our vocational programme.

An opportunity to see silversmithing and jewellery made by four Bishopsland alumni; Caitlin Murphy, Isabella Kelley, Yuyi Cheng, and Rebecca Oldfield. The popular contemporary art fair is being held at the Discover Bucks Museum from 16 November to 15 December 2024.

We are delighted to be taking part in The National Trust’s Conservate conference on Friday 20 September, exploring the sustainability of heritage skills.
Bishopsland’s talk will focus specifically on excellence in vocational skills training.

To coincide with the Craft of Tea exhibition, we are holding a pop-up at the Goldsmiths Centre on 20 June from 4-8pm. Entry is free so please join us to view our current maker’s work and talk to them about their Bishopsland journey.

Join us at that the end-of-year Retrospective exhibition and celebration of the 2024 cohort’s achievements, from Thursday 11 until Saturday 13 July, at The Old Fire Station Gallery in Henley on Thames.

With the invaluable collaboration and support of Jacobs the Jewellers, the Goldsmiths’ Centre, and HS Walsh, this competition has become an integral part of the Bishopsland calendar.

We are excited to announce that four of our talented alumni, Caitlin Murphy, Isabella Kelley, Yuyi Cheng, and Rebecca Oldfield, will be representing Bishopsland at an established art fair taking place at the Bucks County Museum in Aylesbury.

We were so proud of all our Bishopsland winners at the @gcdcawards this week. Our cohort picked up no fewer than 7 awards between them and Bishopsland itself won second prize for the prestigious College Award 2024

Bishopsland has announced today a new fundraising campaign ahead of its imminent relocation to the National Trust Buscot and Coleshill Estate in South Oxfordshire.

It is with great sadness that the Trustees of Bishopsland Educational Trust share the news that Oliver Makower, co-founder of Bishopsland, passed away peacefully on 4 December 2023.

We are delighted to announce that Angela Cork has been appointed as Principal, commencing September 2023.
 We are equally delighted that Bishopsland founder, Pope Makower, will be taking on a new role as Principal Emeritus.

Bishopsland taught me a lot, from the smallest trick of the trade to executing a successful exhibition. It encompassed a unique way of living and working in one place, which focused and pushed my hand skills further than ever before.

Oliver and Pope have been so generous in sharing their invaluable wisdom, experience and advice with me, and I have learned so much from them; their tenacity, their integrity in work and life and always going the extra mile.

For me, Bishopsland really kick-started my career as a jeweller silversmith and it’s where I met some of my best friends. At Bishopsland, I gained a much clearer understanding of what it would take to be a jeweller with my own business.
