Susan MacLeod

Bishopsland Fellow 2015-2016

Susan’s work explores the human connection to the natural world and how this relationship translates into wearable objects. She takes inspiration from the beauty of irregular forms, which she feels have an intrigue in their imperfection. Her jewellery captures the free, expressive feel of natural forms and she creates statement work that captures organic composition, textures, and structures.

Working with precious metals and enamel in a raw, unrestricted way allows the materials to convey the delicate state of organic matter. Susan’s artistic practice is driven by her interest in conceptions of the environment, allowing the viewer to interact with these varied notions that interest and inspire her.
