Ray has been working as a silversmith since 1979, his work encompasses all areas of silversmithing; from designing and creating his own contemporary silverware, working to commission and undertaking making for others within the trade. He also specialises in antique restoration and conservation projects.

Ray is a Freeman of the Goldsmiths Company, committee member of Contemporary British Silversmiths and a fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths, his work features in the Goldsmiths Company collection and many private collections in the UK and Europe.

He is a multi award winner in the Goldsmiths Craft and Design council competition including the prestigious Jacques Cartier Award.
