Chamine Ghuss holds a First Class Honours degree in 3D Design & Crafts from the University of Brighton, alongside a teaching qualification from the University of Bedfordshire. After completing a two-year postgraduate programme at Bishopsland, she is now developing her creative practice utilising one of Bishopsland's Incubation Workshops. Chamine specialises in the fundamental silversmithing techniques, creating objects of adornment that explore conceptual narratives of ephemeral memories. With over five years of teaching experience, Chamine is a passionate educator whose practice spans silversmithing, jewellery and the wider creative arts. She leads the planning and delivery of Bishopsland’s short courses and external outreach programme, and also tutors in schools, where her warm and inclusive approach supports learners of all backgrounds.

Ring in a Day

Explore the insightful process of making a silver ring which you will design, make and take home. Our experienced tutor will teach you how to transform a bar of silver into a beautiful wearable ring. You will be helped through every step of designing, hammer forming, texturing and finishing your ring.  We will also give you some helpful hints on how to care for your silver jewellery.
All the tools, materials and teaching needed to produce your ring will be provided.
The course is suitable for beginners with no prior jewellery making experience, or for those with some knowledge who’d like to refresh and extend their skills.
You can do this course as a stand alone or book multiple short courses to build up a bank of jewellery and metal smithing skills.
Suitability: The course is open to anyone with an interest in jewellery making who is 18 years of age and above
What to bring/wear: All tools and material are included. Please wear practical clothes and footwear (closed shoes, no open toes) and ensure arms/legs are covered. If you have long hair, please tie it back. You will need to bring an apron and a packed lunch. We have full use of Buscot village hall which is equipped with a fridge, microwave etc. Alternatively, cafes in Faringdon, Coleshill or Lechlade are approx a 10 minute car journey away.
Accessibility: There is parking on site. There are some uneven surfaces such as cobbles due to the historic nature of the Estate. Seating is provided but the nature of the course may necessitate some standing. Please contact us if you would like to have an informal chat about access prior to booking.
