Bishopsland Fellow 2016-2017

My process explores by gathering a range of textures, organic material and other natural elements found in different environments. I feel my work operates between the tangible and intangible, moving from the boundaries of the real against the surreal, playing with perception, juxtaposition and contrasting elements.

I work instinctively by combining a range of materials, each with its special qualities and purpose. Often, there is a pairing between opposites that ultimately enhances one another. I love using chasing and repoussé hammering techniques in my work. I follow these by various moulding and casting methods used to build up layers of texture and colour.

Through my jewellery, I am expressing a sense of wonderment and curiosity, and I use my jewellery as a bridge between the self and the unknown.
