Clare Ransom

Senior Fellow, commissioned 2007

 Clare graduated with a BA in 3D Design Metalwork and Jewellery from Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 2005 and in 2007, with an MA in Contemporary Craft Practice.

In 2005, Clare won the New Designers’ Goldsmiths’ Graduate Award for silversmithing and in 2006, she won two gold awards at the Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council Awards.

Details observed in nature are the inspiration for Clare’s pieces; her work reflects her response to the inherent qualities of silver. She manipulates and explores its response through hammering, folding, stretching, and pleating, creating tactile vessels with delicate structures.
