Hand engraved silver brooch with vitreous enamel. The sea green enamel is built up in several layers and fired at each stage in a small kiln. In one layer, silver foil has been fired into the enamel. The surface of the enamel has been etched to produce a matt finish reminiscent of sea glass.
Sheila McDonald MA (RCA)
Sheila originally studied Textile Design at the Glasgow School of Art before being drawn towards silversmithing and completing a Masters in Jewellery Design at the Royal College of Art, London.
After many years in Norfolk, Sheila has relocated to Scotland and her current workshop is in Beaverhall Studios, Edinburgh. She also teaches short courses at West Dean College, Chichester.
